quest 41 mapmaking!
because i am apparently obsessed with this map sidequest, i went ahead and compiled everyone who has the pieces of the maps, and what pieces they have! feel free to coordinate below who gets what map and/or who contacts the mods for info AND/OR plotting characters actually going out to find whatever the maps lead to, but here are the groups!
(additionally, shiho has the glue to put them all together. if i made any mistakes or missed something, let me know!)
*i’m sure one of these was actually meant to be middle left but the point is there are six pieces…

Whether you reply or handwave that's how your character found out about gathering the blue pieces, Keigo has a post asking about it here.
He washes his hands of the finished map.

No matter what, he is definitely going to be up for exploring.

Jion doesn't talk on the network much (old habits), but he'd have probably seen that Tonbokiri is taking the yellow pieces and handed his over. He'd also volunteer to tag along on any attempts at deciphering the map!

Thank you for putting together the map -- the contents of it will... rather anti-climactically, be just of one of the districts of the Town. In this case? The district is Bluo.
However, sharp-eyed characters will note that the map does have an X-marks-the-spot marking on it. It seems to be a relatively normal boat house out in the harbor... but if a character doesn't have the map in hand? The boat house doesn't exist. They have to have the map and follow it to be able to find said boat house.
Things to note about the boat house itself:
1. It has all of its color.
2. It isn't falling apart like much of the Town was before the characters came through to fix it.
3. In fact... it seems pristine, as good as new, with the fresh smell of newly chopped wood permeating the entire place.
The door is locked, but that's not really that big of a deal; they can break it down, or pick the lock, or whatever they'd like to do. And inside? It's... fully decorated, a candle still lit, as if the people in it just casually stepped out for a minute. There are no people inside, but the touches of them living there are everywhere. There are veggies being chopped in the kitchen. There's a bed, poorly made. There's clothing neatly stacked, with an outfit picked out as if for the next day.
And no matter how often they leave and come back in, nothing about the scene changes, as if it's frozen in time.
The only changes that will ever happen to this house are if the characters themselves take things; then those things are gone for good. It seems as though the characters are the only ones who can meddle in this case.
Curious! Anyway, anyone with the map can visit that place, and the characters can mess with it how they like; please just let us know if anyone completely wrecks the place.
As ever, if you have any questions, just let us know!

As mentioned, Tonbokiri has indeed volunteered to take the pieces here!
So far I would consider Keigo's, Emil's and Jion's in his possession, making 4/6 (including his own).
I'll try to touch base with Karou's player ooc-ly soon if they don't happen to tag in to this or the thread first, and hopefully we can move this along!
And (as Tonbokiri mentioned in his forum post), if anyone has any connections to people that would be interested in deciphering a map, by all means bring them on board!
Re: YELLOW
But yes, she'd be fine with handing them over though she'd like to let Shiho take a look at it. Though if anyone were to ask, she'd tell them it's because Shiho was an apprentice to a map maker.
Re: YELLOW
lol, that Shiho is full of surprises...
As Tonbokiri explained to Emil, he wants to at least meet everyone involved, even if they aren't interested in pursuing whatever the map holds.
Would you prefer to handwave that interaction with Karou, or play it out?
(And now that we have all 6, I'll message the mods!)

You're welcome to my inbox, unless you have a catch-all that might work better?
And would you like to start, or shall I?
Buried... treasure?
I'm back with the mod's reply:

The yellow map will lead to an area in Flavo, in one of the untended to open fields. It leads right to the center of that field, and then... nowhere.
But if they dig there? They'll find a trap door, buried beneath about a foot of plant and soil. And if they haul up that trap door, there's a ladder leading down into the darkness. They'll probably want to grab a torch or flashlight or something so they can see, because there's no light down there... but if they do, they'll find a small vault. The vault is blocked off by a large wooden door, very thick and sturdy. They have to find the key to get further in on this one (it's very, very magically sealed and no amount of force or power will open it up) -- nobody's got it yet, but maybe, just maybe if you finish up the church completely and make it more like it used to be (complete with offerings and some sort of service), something might pop up...?
Once you guys have the key, we'll gladly give you the rest of what they'll find down there! If you need more details on what needs to be done or want to test out some sort of attempt, please feel free to run it by us at any point!
This one's a doozy and pretty plot point, so we'd prefer if the church restoration/service is threaded out (and is hopefully as open to everyone who would like to participate in it as is possible). We'll 100% leave it up to you guys to decide how you want to set that up or organize it, though; just let us know what you decide on, and we'll give you more information for what'll happen and what everyone can expect!

dextera wasn’t involved with the yellow map but he has been spending more time at the church, and now that zelda is gone, he (and sierra, really) will be really focused on fixing it up!
From here--
If any of you have questions that spring to mind, by all means reply here and I'll add it to my message so that we can get our answers together.
My questions:
Will the characters get the 'idea', as they sometimes do from the town, that no one has the key for this lock yet, or will they have to do some trial-and-error? Also, will they get the 'idea' that they have to do those things in the Church?
For now I might just ooc-ly get as far as figuring out who was in the digging party.
Once I get my answers, Tonbokiri can make a forum post asking for help on this project.
But if anyone IC-ly or OOC-ly knows of people who might be interested in this, by all means toss them this way! XD

I hope that such characters will be interested in perusing it once Tonbokiri's team makes their findings public! ^.^

but i think there are a lot of people interested in rebuilding it anyway so it’s just a matter of how soon it happens!

If Kaoru drags Shiho there to get a read using psychometry on the door or the walls or anything in there she can touch what might she find?

Thank you! I'll certainly keep you in mind!
I'm glad to know that there's a lot of people interested in it. ^.^
To be honest, I'm going to moving house in RL next month, and will be too busy to properly organize something of this scale, but hopefully I can get the ball rolling before the end of the month and someone will take it on.

The short of it is, I'm sure glad you asked, otherwise we'd have no clue XD

Hello!
The characters will not have any idea! They're going to have to trial and error it, and figure it out on their own. They also won't know that it's connected to the church, but...!
If Shiho touches the door, she will be able to read this info:
- The door is very magical in nature and very, very old. The magic in question probably reads more like a "curse" than any classic magic.
- The door does have something to do with the church -- the door and the church are connected in some way, though she won't be able to read how.
- The door was last touched by the leader of the church; she may not recognize him, but if she describes him to those who saw him in their visions, they will be able to know who she's talking about.
Similarly, outside of Shiho's ability, anyone with a strong ability to sense holy or unholy forces, or dark magic, or things along those lines will be able to feel it by the door, and possibly trace it to the church, if their ability to sense it is strong enough!

I'm going to go make an IC forum post about this, as far as what the characters would have found by following the map. That way you could have a chance to play the psychometry part out with Shiho, or just chime into the thread whenever you want ^.^

I posted it below too, but here is the forum post.
Looking back on it, I realized that you didn't explicitly say that you'd have Kaoru join the initial search, but rather it was my assumption she was... /o\ If you need me to change that, just say the word!
I hope we can thread something out some other time! ^.^
