With the end of the game, we just wanted to take a moment to say a proper farewell. Awash very much was a player-driven game, and we have been astounded and gratified by just how fiercely everyone in this game took that to heart. Without Awash's playerbase, there would be no Town, no Chroma, no hen, and no ridiculous quest rewards. Thank you all so much for everything you made Awash into.

So much of Awash was an experiment for us. We wanted to see if the various mechanics in this game could not only work, but be sustainable, especially in a game that would ultimately be run by the players. And ultimately, we feel like Awash was a success -- and we hope everyone else feels the same way. If everyone had a good time here, for however long they were here, it was definitely worth it.

Every character here truly brought so much color to this game's life.

So thank you all -- it was an amazing, surprising and fun time modding this game, and we're so glad you all chose to be a part of it -- current players and previous players alike.

Thank you very much and best of luck with everything in the future!

comments

Submissions will be accepted until 9/27, just to give us enough time to write up a final wrap-up post with what the characters' submissions will create in the Town.

Submissions can be found here with updated submissions here. More information about submissions can be found on that post. Don't be afraid to ask if you have any questions!

Quest rewards for last month's quest will be delivered after that deadline.

A final event log will be posted on 9/28 as a sort of farewell/wrap-up log, alongside all of the changes the characters have wrought in the past month.

Finally, as some characters have discovered by venturing into the woods in search of the mystical hen, the pages of the characters that go into the book are very necessary to go home. Each character must put in their own page (or someone else can put it in for them, the book isn't picky) in order to go home. This isn't something that has to be threaded out -- we just wanted everyone to know so they could make proper endgame plans!

Let us know if you have any questions, and thanks for sticking with us on the steps to endgame!

comments

Originally, the end was a tragic one -- a curse, a lost love, and a forgotten Town. But this time? This time, maybe the characters can fix things, and make for a happier ending.

Please note that this isn't, per se, a proper event. We'll be giving everyone the remaining details necessary for endgame, and then letting you all loose to do with them what you will for the remainder of the month. We will post a log on Saturday, 9/7, for the majority of the threading to do with what's to come, but you are all naturally welcome to make your own posts or logs -- whatever makes the most sense!

Please do not hesitate to use the OOC comm as well to plot with your fellow players and drag everyone into the sorts of aspects of endgame you'd like to play with!

There are three aspects to endgame -- after all, all things in fairy tales come in threes!

1. The first aspect is one that you are all aware of, and that everyone has already dove into! The book that was found beneath the Town has to do with the characters' endings. Anything to do with the characters themselves, what they will experience after the Town, where they will go, what they will remember, what they can do...etc, etc, etc all has to do with what's written in said book. Do your best, everyone!

Without a proper story in the book, the characters will definitely struggle to find the ending they want.

2. The second aspect of endgame is returning color to the Town. This, as many people have guessed, has to do with the magical hen referenced in the original fairy tale on the forum post. Because many people have, over the months, expressed interest in finding said hen, we'd like to make that as interactive and fair as possible! Due to that, we will have sign ups open for those who would like to throw their hats in the ring for actually finding the hen. Sign-ups can be found here. Please sign up by 9/6, 9 PM EST.

Other characters are welcome to try, but they will fail. Any character who goes into the woods this month looking for the hen will find themselves facing increasingly intense fairy tale tests, until they are no longer able to overcome them.

Please feel free to generate your own fairy tale tests at will for your adventuring parties into the woods!

3. The final aspect of endgame is the one that will most likely impact the majority of characters -- because this month, starting Saturday, the trees have stopped playing around, and the woods has lost its patience.

The trees will storm the Town, suddenly able to move much more quickly than one would expect -- and it will be all-out war between the Town and the characters, and the woods. The trees will try to attack the characters, but they will also try to destroy the Town. Either option will be considered a win condition for the woods, so the characters will have to protect not only themselves, but also the Town. After all, if the Town is totally destroyed...well, they'll never be able to really say they experienced a Happily Ever After here.

The trees are magical in nature -- they are stronger, sturdier, and more intense than you'd expect. They can drain color with a touch, from both characters and items in the Town (and even the player's own items from home), so be really careful! But otherwise? They will honestly just try to crush and smash and rip apart anything that's in their way.

And as ever, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here. Thanks, everyone!

comments

Please be sure to read all of this post.

Mechanics

There is no AC for the month of September.

The majority of endgame will be happening this month -- so if there's anything your characters have needed to do or that you're desperate for them to get done before the end of the game, now's the time! Please don't hesitate to bring forward ideas to us, and we'll find a way to make it all happen. There are only two important aspects that are currently "plot-blocked" -- the hen from the fairy tale and the forest -- and those will be opened up this month for all character shenanigans. Don't be afraid to make endgame your own!

Announcements

This is very important, so please give this a quick read! Now that characters have been experimenting with the book found beneath the Town, and some have even successfully managed to write in it, we wanted to set up a little bit more information so that everyone's in the loop on what's going on there. It took some experimenting, but thanks to the efforts of some of your fellow players, you've got some guidelines to go off of. The book is very important for endgame -- not necessarily for the fate of the Town, but for the fate of the characters going home especially.

The book can be written in once per character. Each character can only write a sentence.

Characters can only write about themselves (ie the characters in the Town), or the future of the Town to some extent; writing about anything else will cause the ink to disappear. (Don't be afraid of playing out failures -- characters can keep trying without using up their one allotted sentence until something they write sticks).

Characters have a limited scope of what they can write. They can only influence a little by themselves (the general rule of thumb is "one small idea" or "one sentence"). If multiple characters write one line together, utilizing their bonds, a greater scope can be influenced. For example: a single character could write that, when they go home, they will retain their own memories of Awash. Five characters, writing together, could write that there will be a way for them to send letters across worlds (but only in their own worlds).

Please don't have your character write things that are supposed to influence the entire game at large. Even if it ICly would work, OOCly we cannot enforce that every single character will be affected by something without player permission. If your character is going to write something about another character, please be sure you have player permission for it. For that reason, sweeping statements like "[Character] writes that every character in the Town has a sudden love for teddy bears" won't be plausible.

Even if you gather up a huge force of characters, sentences that would immediately end the game (such as "they all lived happily ever after") also won't work. This is just due to the nature of writing an endgame -- we want to make sure everyone has the chance to contribute and see the game through to the end, and something like that being successful would end the game immediately.

If your character has something to write, don't hesitate to shoot us a PM, and we'll go over what will work and what won't -- if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

A list of sentences already written can be found here.

Ultimately, the idea is that the characters are writing their own ending all together -- but this isn't the only piece of endgame, and is mostly relevant to the characters' own personal returns and futures.

Plot

The creatures from the well continue to show up every now and then, though in much lesser numbers than in last month's event. They are much less threatening, considering there's maybe a trickle of three or four over the course of an entire week. Still...they're a little unnerving, aren't they?

This month's endgame plot will have to do with the trees, and a mysterious little hen that might seem a bit familiar... Keep your eyes peeled for a bit more information in the upcoming month, and don't be afraid to bring up other pieces of the plot that you'd like to explore further via PM!

Quests

There are no quests for the month of September that can be turned in for a reward. The final quest on the forum post is a little grandiose, but...hey, you get the idea, right?

If there are any questions, please ask them here, so that we don’t miss any. But while the trees loom and encroach as alarmingly as ever, that's not, in fact, the next problem.

The next problem comes from the Well.

Observant characters will have noted by now that it regained color this month, and... well, with that, things seem to have started to go a little wonky. They're solid, and they're humanoid, but it's as if they're unfinished. They have no color, and very little in the way of features. Their blank faces might have the barest hint of a nose, or indentations where eyes might be, but otherwise?

Nothing.

It's like they're a humanoid blank slate.

They don't speak (can't speak?), and don't seem to feel much either. They simply clamber out of the well (with or without your help) and at first? They just Follow You. They'll latch onto a particular character and follow them everywhere they go. Around the Town, into the woods, staring through their window...they just follow, constantly, without being shaken off at all.

(Note that they can be killed, and quite easily. They crumble as if discarded dolls, very creepily, still staring.)

But for every one of the creatures that's killed, another clambers out of the well to take its place.

And the thing is... they aren't exactly threatening, except for one little thing.

If they catch a character near or in the woods, they will try to drag them off into the woods, never to be seen or heard from again. With how the trees have been encroaching on the Town, that's unfortunately actually pretty easy, so be careful of that. Their touch has a numbing effect, so it's actually quite dangerous to be grabbed by them -- your limbs, face, or even chest could go entirely numb, depending on where they touch you and for how long.

Oh, and one more thing. Some less creepy and far more familiar faces might also be showing up in the well alongside these interlopers. Weird that they'd all show up together. Wonder what it all means? It's probably significant.

If you have any questions, please ask them here! This is only the beginning part of endgame, slowly kicking things off while bringing new/old characters into the game. The log for this event will be up 8/16. Thank you, everyone!

comments

Thank you for your patience; we have a few updates here in regards to endgame, so please read this carefully! As we've reached the deadline for taking over as mods, we'll progress with endgame as planned. Here are a few details for things you'll need to know for the future of the game.

Applications

- Applications will be open from tomorrow, 8/11 at PM EST, onward. They will not close until the game is over. For new players and characters, a proper application must still be written.

- For returning characters who have been in the game before, there is a reclaim form on the Applications page at the bottom of the page. Just submit that form to the app page and you'll be good to go! Please note that reclaims are first come first served in the case of characters who have had multiple players.

- Though this is endgame, the cast cap and player cap will remain intact. The game will still cap out at 80 players, and casts are still capped at 6. Likewise, players can still only play 2 characters.

- Applications will be processed in weekly batches, on Fridays.

Activity Check

- For the remainder of the game's lifespan, AC will be check-in only. We're assuming that everyone who remains in the game at this point is doing so because they'd like to be a part of endgame!

- The AC form has been tweaked to reflect this, but AC will still be done on google forms, just as before.

- AC is now open for August, and can be found here. The spreadsheet to check your submission is here.

Endgame/Events

- The beginning Endgame event will begin 8/16, with more info posted on 8/14. In the meantime, we'll be compiling information to give everyone a quick summary of what plot info has been discovered as quickly as we can!

Thank you for all of your patience with this process, everyone, and we hope that endgame ends up being satisfying and fun for everyone in the game!

comments

(Just small scribbles, single words and the like won't have any impact, so they can discover that it writes there without messing with anything.)"

Tristan posted an open invitation to Chroma to go write in that book. (Except for Mordred. She's only allowed to touch a decoy quill.)

This post is here for any plotting and discussion related to writing in the book.

You can log out what your character actually writes in the book here! (I imagine the sooner the better for the sake of giving the mods a heads-up.)

Background links:

Original map gathering and related forum post

The key appears - important book details

The quill

Archer/Tristan's forum post

If anyone who has been more involved would like to elaborate or correct anything I've said, please feel free! Please be sure to read all of this post. We have some very important announcements this month.

Mechanics

First off, AC has completed and has been processed.

Characters removed via AC:

Noctis (nascere)
Nyx (sirnyxalot)
Ignis (subzeroes)
Keith (parakalein)
Kuron (kuron)
Shiro (paladads)
Shiho (good_ideas)

We've added a Plot sharing OOC post, so that everyone can share what pieces of the plot their characters have uncovered to help everyone put it all together! Please be sure to give it a look! We'll be summarizing everything in it and bringing it all together in a later post, when we update everyone on the following situation, so please submit what you have there sooner rather than later!

Announcements

As can be seen from the IC Quest post, the fairy tale of Awash has come to an end. This means the game's planned arc is also coming to an end, which means a few important things:

Endgame: It's with a heavy heart that we, the mod team of awash, have to acknowledge that we no longer have the time or energy to run this game any longer. After this endgame arc, we will be stepping down.

That said, we want Awash to have the most satisfying possible outcome for its players -- after all, the game wouldn't be what it is if not for all of you! So we have a couple of options that we'd like to lay out, to be as clear and transparent as possible.

New mods - If anyone who is currently in the game would like to take over Awash and step up as its new mod team, please PM or email us by August 10th, 2019. We need to know ASAP so we can know what sort of event to set up later this month! We'll gladly hand the game over to anyone who wants to keep it going.

Endgame - If new mods do not come forward, we will continue to run Awash's planned endgame. Here are a few quick details as an overview:

Currently, endgame is planned to be no longer than two months, though it may be shorter depending on character choices and player actions.

Endgame will be player choice run. We will set up the current endgame scenario, but if people have things they would like to do or change with the upcoming events, we are 100% open to it! Please feel free to PM us at any time to do so.

Endgame will begin with this month's event.

Applications will be open for the remainder of Awash's lifespan to allow people to join in on endgame if they are interested, with a reclaim option for people who have been here before.

Activity Check will be check-in only for the remainder of the game's lifespan. We're assuming that anyone who is here for endgame is here because they're interested in seeing the game to a proper close!

Post-Endgame - We will discuss this more as we come closer to reaching this, but we did want to also say that we are considering a few post-endgame options, such as setting Awash up as an unmoderated, open sandbox (or a moderated one, if people are interested in stepping up as those mods), or similar things. We'll address these options properly in a few months!

Thanks for bearing with us, everyone -- we'll keep everyone posted and aware of any changes that may come up as they happen.
Plot

The characters in the Town have done a great job of keeping the trees back in any way they can think of possible, and for awhile there, it's been working. However, in the night, there's groaning from the woods, and characters might notice that the trees are once again creeping closer, bit by bit.

Oh, and one more thing.

Some mornings, characters might wake up feeling drained and tired... and when they look at themselves? They'll be missing color, a washed out version of themselves. It lasts only a moment before they snap back to their usual selves.

What's that about?

Quests

Quests for August are now up(?)! The OOC breakdown of said quests can be found below, as with last month. AC closes tomorrow, July 31th, at 9 PM EST. After that time, no more AC submissions will be accepted.

Please submit your AC here. Please also be sure to double-check that your AC has passed here. It is your own responsibility to make sure that your AC is correct, as outlined in the AC guide and Monthly AC Post. If they have nothing to report on them, that's totally fine, of course, but if there are no current threads on their color logs, they will have less of a color impact.

Thank you, everyone!

comments

We've received some feedback that players are feeling disconnected or lost from the plot. With that in mind, we'd like to open up a post like this once a month to allow for players to post what their characters have been working on, what plot information they have found, and what they've accomplished. No detail is too small to share -- it might be exactly what someone else is looking for!

Please also don't hesitate to use this post to collaborate and connect with people who are pursuing similar plot threads; this is a great way to find people to work with, or find parts of the plot that you're interested in.

You can use the form before, but please consider it a guide -- you are welcome to change, tweak, or not use it at all if you have another way that you would like to share the information your characters have.

<b>Player Name:</b>

Well... that time has finally come.

... Perhaps a bit more quietly than anyone might have been expecting. In the very, very, very early morning of 7/20, characters are going to be spirited away by some very angry dryads.

Now note that not every character will be spirited away -- only as many dryads as the number of trees that have been cut down by the player characters will show up to sweep people away. (Note that this isn't a hard and fast number -- if you want your character to be kidnapped, that can absolutely still happen, no matter how many characters have already been kidnapped).

Kidnapped characters will be dragged off into the deep, deep woods by the dryads, where they will have a spell cast on them -- a spell that will make them begin to turn into a tree. That process can happen differently for each character. Some might have roots take place first, and be unable to move, but still be mostly them. Some might lose their limbs in place of branches, but still be able to run and shout. Some might have their head replaced by leaves and branches but otherwise still be human. Really, knock yourself out.

It's a slow process, but nonetheless, bit by bit? They will start to turn completely, totally into trees. The nice thing is that the color of the tree, both the bark and the leaves, will be akin to your character's hex code, so at least the trees are very easy to pick out amidst the monochrome woods.

Regardless, the characters who aren't dragged away will wake up that morning to find that many of their friends, comrades and enemies have just disappeared into nothingness, just like that. There are still dryads attempting to kidnap characters away, sneakily (they aren't really much for a fight, so they'll be trying to avoid that), so enterprising characters might be able to figure out where, exactly, their comrades have been dragged off to.

But even if they find them in the woods, amidst monsters and fire-breathing animals and perils... how will they save them? The method isn't readily apparent, and they're going to have to do some major trial and error. But it turns out that the method depends on the color of the person (and coincidentally, the tree).

Blues can be saved by being wept upon -- sincere, earnest tears, on any part of the tree.

Yellows can be saved by having earnest laughter let loose in their presence.

Reds can be saved by having blood spilled on their bark or leaves -- whose blood it is really doesn't matter.

Characters are going to have to put in some serious work to figure it out... but it's worth it to save your tree compatriots, right? And, of course, characters who have yet to turn into a tree fully can also try to save each other, for as long as they can still move around.

And as ever, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here. Thank you for your interest in the game, and we hope you have a good time here! This is just a quick mod post with two purposes: to help the new people get settled into the game, and to introduce tomorrow's mini-event!

AC

New characters must submit half-AC.

Those requirements, as well as the AC post, can be found here.

Please be sure to also read the general AC guidelines, here! It is very important that you do, as we will not be granting AC exemptions due to the capped nature of the game.

Gameplay Mechanics

Character housing, now that the application round is over, can be found here! This is where characters can find their laptops, though they are by no means required to stay there; they can move at will, and their laptop will function in whatever new home they pick. The spreadsheet is editable, so please feel free to move your characters around!

Quests can be done by incoming players at any point once they have been introed. Quests can ICly be found here. OOCly, further information can be found here! Please be aware that only quests of the current month can be completed for a reward. Past quests can be done if you would like to, but will receive no reward.

A list of current restored colors can be found here; please be aware that no colors have been restored for new characters yet. That means that their text color will be black, and their homes, unless shared with a current character, will have no color.

The OOC meet and greet can be found here.

Event Log

A mingle log can be found here, to provide a general introduction to the game. Due to the sizes of the current app rounds in the game, the intro logs also serve as mini-events, with a bit more to play with.

See The Bonnets Blue
[ 7/8 - 7/12 ]

There are a two major points of note here re: the intro log/event log -- what's happening with the newly arrived characters, and what's happening with the characters as a whole. So let's break it down!

Newly arrived characters will arrive in the well, as always! They'll end up in the bottom of the well, absolutely frigid water coming up to about knee-deep. It's far larger on the inside than it would seem, but either way, the only way up is the top of the well, the opening there. Thankfully, previous characters have long since installed ropes and ladders, and an alarm bell to ring -- it's a bit easier to get yourselves out of there than it used to be.

Thankfully, that part of things is easy. They unfortunately will start to realize that things are weird about this Town basically...immediately.

This time around, every character is going to find that they have a flower in their hands. No matter what they do with it, it's too late once they touch it -- the effects will have taken effect practically immediately, and will depend on what kind of flower they end up with. Effects will depend on that flower's "flower language" -- but reversed. For example, if your character ends up with a pink rose, which symbolizes "grace", amongst other things, they could suddenly be a terrible, horrible klutz. The possibilities are endless, so please don't hesitate to be creative with what flower language you use and how you interpret it! Nothing is rigid here in the least.

There are flowers of all shapes and sizes everywhere in the Town. Who knows where they showed up from? They're just suddenly there, scattered across the paths, planted in the ground...maybe even chilling in your own houses.

Of course, it gets a bit more complicated than that. The effects will last the entirety of the couple of days that the event does... unless they give them away to another character in a bouquet. They will know, once they touch a flower, that if they give it to someone else, they will be free of the effect plaguing them... but, naturally, that'll just transfer said effects to the other person, so what a double-edged sword that is... Note that it does have to be a bouquet that they give to the other character, so whether they grab more of the same flower or take a risk and mix and match effects is up to them, but it has to be more than one flower.

Effects do stack as well (and some cancel out, if you're really lucky/clever with your flower combos), so be creative! And if you need some ideas, these are some good places to start!

After this log, new characters will be welcome to create logs and posts as you please! Please be sure to read over the FAQ once more before you begin playing.

As ever, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here. Please be sure to read all of this post.

Mechanics

First off, AC has completed and has been processed. AC is now open for July. July's AC Post can be found here.

Applications are now open! They can be found here.

Characters removed via AC:

Kamijou Touma
Ignis Scientia
Summer Moran

We've added a Plot sharing OOC post, so that everyone can share what pieces of the plot their characters have uncovered to help everyone put it all together!

Plot

The trees have been pushed back a fair ways due to the efforts of a handful of characters using their ink for that purpose -- but they're slowly starting to encroach again, all the more aggressively now. It seems the characters just managed to buy some time with that one.

Now, if characters go near the trees in the woods, they will occasionally try to actively trip up or attack the characters with branches and roots. That'll make quests a little trickier.

Quests

Quests for July are now up! The OOC breakdown of said quests can be found below, as with last month. All quests have been posted ICly to the Quest Forum Post. Only quests for this month can be turned in for a reward.

The Quest Reporting comment can be found here. As ever, please respond to that comment once the quest itself has been completed. When reporting the quest, please state what quest it is in the subject line; we've realized that that helps us a lot with keeping track over the past few months!

Please be aware that Quests must be reported by the end of the month; this is because we use what quests are completed to keep track of what colors are restored for the next month!

Color Changes/Rewards

This month’s color changes are as follows (color changes can be tracked at the Color Timeline):

Color Gains:

For completing all of the quests last month, characters have restored the color of mountains. Granted, the only mountains that can be see are at the far edge of the woods, but with two of the three forest guardians defeated, maybe getting to the edge of the woods to see them is a bit more viable...?

If your character has a color log thread from the month of June, please go here to submit a thread! After that, the mods will let you know what color that thread has restored.

Color Losses:

From drops: Duck eggs, shirts, robins, bats, canaries, pigs, matcha tea powder, pine cones, firewood, straw, beer, avocados, church stained glass, mittens, will-o-wisps, lavender, library inner walls, house boat roofs, water, thread, cows, pepper jack cheese, pumpkins, persimmons, sleigh bells

If there are any questions, please ask them here, so that we don’t miss any. Thank you, everyone!

comments

AC will be open all month long, and can be submitted until July 31st, 9 PM EST.

AC requirements are:

25 comments over a minimum of two threads and a maximum of five threads
OR

One post AND a minimum of one additional thread and a maximum of two threads adding to 10 comments

AC Requirements for new players and new characters are:

12 comments over a minimum of two threads and a maximum of five threads
OR

One post and one additional thread of 5 comments.

Please keep in mind the additional requirements, due to the game's nature as focused on the bonds and CR formed between characters:

You may use a maximum of 1 inbox thread for AC.

You may use a maximum of 1 thread with castmates for AC.

You may not use threads with the same characters as you used for the previous AC.

A toplevel and all of its subthreads counts as a single thread.

Awash’s AC will be done via a Google form, which can be found here. More information about AC, clarification about AC requirements, the forms, and how to submit can be found here. Please be sure to give it a read!

You will also be required to link your character’s Color Post in their journal; this is so that we can tally up what large events happened over the month in question. In the monthly mod post that will follow AC’s closing, we will be listing out what changes have occurred based on the characters’ experiences and colors, so keep an eye out for that! If your character didn’t have anything big happen to them that month, it’s okay. Just link the Color Post anyway.

Please be aware that we will not be posting a warning list. We will post a generic announcement a day before AC closes to remind everyone that AC will be closing, but will not be generating a list of people who have not submitted their AC. We’ll be counting on all of you to keep track of your own AC and submit it when necessary! Please also be sure to check a few days after you have submitted said AC, to make sure that you haven’t miscounted or submitted the form incorrectly. AC will be checked by the mods every Monday at the latest. You can view your AC and check its status here.

Should your character be removed due to AC, we will not be accepting retroactive requests to remain in the game. Because it is a capped game, we believe this is the best way to be fair to everyone in the game who has submitted their AC.

Thank you for your understanding and for reading through all of this! If anything about AC is unclear, please feel free to ask questions below, so we can clarify for you.

Once again, the important links are the AC submission form and the AC spreadsheet.

comments

Please also be sure to double-check that your AC has passed here. It is your own responsibility to make sure that your AC is correct, as outlined in the AC guide and Monthly AC Post. Please be aware that all players must submit AC.

Additionally, if you wish for your characters to have a personal impact on next month's color changes, please be sure that their color logs are up to date! If they have nothing to report on them, that's totally fine, of course, but if there are no current threads on their color logs, they will have less of a color impact.

Thank you, everyone!

comments

Characters can wake up the morning of 6/14 and feel reassured that there are no dragons, no crazy side-effects, and no sad newcomers at the bottom of the well. It's peaceful -- have some nettle tea and settle in for the day.

At least, until you notice your new gifts.

Each and every character has received a leather-bound notebook, and an old-style inkwell. The notebooks are boring, just a black leather cover and blank pages as far as the eye can see, but the ink will be your character's hexcolor.

And, naturally, as per all things like this from the Town? It's magical. You see, now it's time for the characters to write their own little additions to this fairy tale -- literally. Anything that they write will come true. If a character writes that their house is suddenly surrounded by flowers, it will come true in the Town. If your character writes that their neighbor's hats were all suddenly replaced with frogs, that, too, is entirely possible.

Changes written into the books will be permanent.

With that in mind, there are a few things to keep in mind!

The bigger the change, the more ink it will require, even if it's only a few words. For instance, adding flowers to the landscape is a relatively small change, and will allow the character to make many more changes, but changing something about another character is a large change -- if they change another's character's hair color, for instance, it will take practically all of their ink.

Please be sure to get player permission before making any changes to any other characters, seeing as how this is a permanent situation!

Your characters do not have enough ink for gigantic changes such as: changing another character's personality, removing the woods, killing another character, or restoring color to everything in the Town. For a good scale of reference, characters can restore color to two separate items before running out of ink, or change one cosmetic aspect of another character, or make one large item appear from their world or elsewhere.

Characters can combine their ink, but only for setting changes. Please let us know if characters plan on large setting changes, and we'd be happy to work with you on how much ink it will take and what's possible!

Ink can be used to undo something that has been done, and will generally only require half the ink to do so. For instance, if a character's hair color has changed and they hate it, they can use their own ink to rewrite it the way it's supposed to be, and still have enough ink left over to do a few other things.

And, of course, as per all fairy tales... these books are extremely literal, so be careful! What you write is what you get, even if it's not really what you were imagining or wished for. Try not to become an Aesop Fable Moral, okay?

And as ever, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here. If you're not sure if the cost of changing something is too high, you can always ask us there as well, but for the most part we'll trust your judgments in playing with this! Thanks, everyone!

comments

It's been a whole year since prom happened, isn't that wild? I think it's wild.

Anyway, I'll keep things simple! For those of you who were around last year, you can probably just skip ahead to the link. For anyone who needs a refresher or who wasn't around for the first, here's a quick rundown:

As Caramia's recent forum post suggested, there's going to be an IC party held on the anniversary of the first Awash Prom. ICly it should be held on the 12th, but with the event dropping on the 14th, we'll be posting it a bit earlier to give people more time to work with everything. It'll be a fun way to relax while everyone ignores the looming threat of the forest creeping steadily closer!! Don't worry about it!!

And of course I'm here because Kyrie is, once again, in charge of the ever-fun and ever-fair superlatives!

Anonymous ballots will be supplied for those who wish to participate in nominating their friends (or not-so-friends) for useless titles with the possibility of even more useless prizes, maybe.
We've kept some old categories and added some new ones to keep things interesting!
If your character isn't one who would actively vote themselves, you're more than welcome to assume that Kyrie approached them for it! It'll be more fun the more people get involved.

To give everyone a bit of time to get their character's vote in before the log itself goes up, we made a quick survey to be filled out ahead of time!

Here's the link!

Now just like last year, it's worth noting that voting is... a little fickle. Since the voting is handled by Kyrie, if your character can come up with a plausible excuse to vote multiple times, he'll probably allow it! Examples include: If your character has a pet! If your character has brain demon! If your character can summon a Persona, and is willing to share that fact! And more!! Maybe they just really, really, REALLY want to. Convince him, folks. This doesn't have to be a fair competition. It just has to be a fun one.

If that's the case, and your character wants to put in multiple votes, just resubmit the form and follow the applicable directions!

We'll be accepting submissions until June 9th at around 9pm EST! If you want to change your character's votes at any time before the log goes up on the 10th, just submit your form again as an extra ballot and put 'Correction' as the name in the secondary field.

And as always, if there are any questions, suggestions, comments, or concerns, you can hmu at Lacilia or just comment on this post!

comments

Please be sure to read all of this post.

Mechanics

First off, AC has completed and has been processed. AC is now open for June. June's AC Post can be found here.

Drops from AC:
Prompto ( photoshooter )
Tsurumaru ( cranelike )

Plot

The trees are moving closer again. They paused for a month, but now they've started to properly grow into the Town, slowly but surely -- their roots, their branches... some of them even may grow through your wall or block your door. They can be hacked down, but you'll want to be careful; as ever, cutting down too much of the weird trees from the woods will cause your character to start to lose some of their emotions for a temporary period of time.

Please let us know if anything dramatic is done to try to push the trees back -- it'll be very important for the future!

Quests

Quests for June are now up!

For completing all of the quests last month, characters have restored the color of pollen. Sorry about your allergies.

Please go here for a list of color changes from last month's color logs!

Color Losses:

From drops: Tinsel, graham crackers, ribbon

If there are any questions, please ask them here, so that we don’t miss any. AC will be open all month long, and can be submitted until June 30th, 9 PM EST.

AC requirements are:

25 comments over a minimum of two threads and a maximum of five threads
OR

One post AND a minimum of one additional thread and a maximum of two threads adding to 10 comments

Once again, the important links are the AC submission form and the AC spreadsheet.

comments

I play Nyx and I just started an effort to bring some more permanent improvements to the town and affect the world our characters live in.

Nyx posted to the forum here a couple days ago with some ideas and a request for everyone in the town to weigh in. This also involves a more formal reinstatement of the defense teams.

I'd like to encourage as much involvement and cooperation as we can, not only for the town but also to give more varied CR opportunities and to prevent myself from becoming stagnant again.

So if you could give it a look I'd be overjoyed. <3

comments

The Town's been quiet for awhile, but it's doomed to not stay that way for long, as anyone used to this place can tell you. Though at first, this time, it doesn't seem so bad.

At first.

See, everyone is going to wake up with a Cute Animal Companion. Even if you had one as a princess before, you're getting one again. They can be literally any animal -- but large animals will be small and cute, just the right size to carry around. Your cute animal companion can be anywhere from the size of a mouse to the size of a large dog, and can be basically any animal or mythical creature at all. Cute Animal Dragon, the size of a housecat? Very possible. Adorable unicorn that's no larger than a chipmunk? You got it! The cutest black bear you've ever seen, the size of a dog? Sure, that can happen too.

These animal companions will all share a few key traits:

They retain all magical abilities if they have them -- a Dragon can breathe fire or other mysterious breaths, a unicorn can purify poison.

None of them will be larger than a large dog, no matter what animal they are.

They will all be sickly sweet and tamed by your character. They will never misbehave -- almost eerily so. It will be like having the easiest to take care of animal ever in your life.

Almost too good to be true, right?

Well, thaaat's...because it is. You see, after a day or so of these cute companions puttering around, they're going to start to reveal some of their...less than ideal traits. Characters that are close to yours? Suddenly, they're going to be downright nasty to them, trying to drive them off by whatever means necessary. If your characters have other animals, you might want to be really careful, before the Cute Animal Companion eats them to get rid of them. And heaven forbid you have an All Important Rival or significant other or other close CR. The Cute Animal Companion will turn downright evil towards them, trying to get them out of the picture -- this might extend even to trying to get them killed.

How far this goes is ultimately up to you; the cute animal companions might just be little fluffy jerks, or they might be downright homicidal. They'll try to keep those moments out of your character's line of sight, but it's really up in the air how much they succeed. Either way, one thing is for sure -- they want to be The Most Important creature in your character's life. They can be killed, of course, with varying difficulty based off of what kind of creature they are -- a mouse will be easier to get rid of than a dragon, for instance.

When the event is over, all of the cute animal companions will disappear as if they were never there, leaving behind only broken hearts and lots of claw marks. Shame.

As a quick note, this event was originally scheduled to go up tonight -- unfortunately, a few personal issues have led to us posting this OOC belatedly. We're really sorry about the delay. To make sure that everyone still has time to plot and ask questions, we'll post the event Monday evening, and it will run until the weekend. Thank you for your patience with us! And as ever, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here.

comments
