RE: The Defense Force

Hello everyone! Since the previous leaders of the Defense Force dropped and the fate of the organization has been left to us, it seemed best that we all figure out what we should do with it, just so we’re all on the same page ICly.

The way I see it, we can either just close it down or keep it going (since there are still some benefits to having a town militia around). But if we choose to take the latter option we’ll need to coordinate as well. I mean I’d at least like to come to a consensus as to whether or not this is going to be a vague handwaved thing or if someone (or someones) else is willing to take over.

For my part, I’m not really qualified to run something like this ICly and OOCly, so the position’s up for grabs for anyone who wants it! I’ll leave a poll here (apologies that I can’t do an onsite one) and wait a few days so everyone can weigh in on this. After that I’ll either do another post updating the game on the final word for the Defense Force, or let whoever might take over update everyone instead.

In the meantime, please feel free to comment to this post and discuss! Hopefully we can clear things up before the newbies start coming in so there’ll be less confusion!

Keep going - minimum ooc involvement

My quick two cents on the Defense Force-

The patrolling is good for giving characters something to do (patrols/sparring), it gives us a chance to react to sudden situations, and it's a way for the fighting characters to be somewhat organized if we get raided from the forest (the werewolves, for example).

OOC-ly, it's a lot to take on to organize who is on what patrol in what area, to arrange sparring partners, or to organize events for all of the members (like the camping trip, awesome though it was).

I propose that there simply be an open google doc where people can put their name if they're in the DF. From there, players can arrange between themselves if they want to meet new characters through patrols, sparring, or such.

The DF will just be something that runs 'in the background', there if you need it.

I agree with this. People mostly just used it as a way to launch CR anyway, we can still do that without quite so much organization OOCly (like putting people into teams).
