Hello everyone, and welcome to January's monthly mod post! Happy new year!

If there are any questions, please ask them here, so that we don’t miss any. Thank you, everyone!
Mechanics
Quests
- First off, AC has completed and has been processed. AC is now open for January. January's AC Post can be found here. Because December's AC was a check-in AC, you can submit threads with any character for January's AC, but otherwise the requirements are back to normal!
- No characters were removed via AC this round.
- Applications are currently open! There are currently 9 open slots for new players.
- As always with applications rounds, there will be two events this month: an event geared towards welcoming the newcomers while still providing things for the current players to play with, and a meatier event towards the end of the month.
- The pages have been a bit cleaned up, and the layout tweaked, to hopefully make them a bit easier to read while on mobile!
- The locations page has been updated to reflect the current state of the game with the addition of current landmarks. Additionally, if your character has impacted the Town in any way that you would like other players to know about (such as adding locations that would be useful to the game at large), please let us know here so that we can add them to the page!
Color Changes/Rewards
- Quests for January are now up! The OOC breakdown of said quests can be found below, as with last month. All quests have been posted ICly to the Quest Forum Post. Only quests for this month can be turned in for a reward.
- The Quest Reporting comment can be found here. As ever, please respond to that comment once the quest itself has been completed. When reporting the quest, please state what quest it is in the subject line; we've realized that that helps us a lot with keeping track over the past few months!
- Please be aware that Quests must be reported by the end of the month; this is because we use what quests are completed to keep track of what colors are restored for the next month! Because of the holidays last month, quests could be turned in while incomplete; however, that was only for the month of December, so please have your quests completed before submitting them.
This month’s color changes are as follows (color changes can be tracked at the Color Timeline):
Color Gains:
- For completing all of the quests last month, for all of the current characters in Awash, their houses are now fully colored -- in other words, anything that didn't have color yet now does. The roof, the walls, the floor, the items within the house... for each character, their houses are now bright and colorful and probably a little blinding, if you're used to the floors being a colorless grey. Enjoy!
- Please also see this comment for special color changes your characters have brought about via their bonds last month!
Color Losses:
- From drops: Sunset purple, green ink, kingfisher birds, grapefruit peels, crows, bananas, squash, glass, locks, the floor of the library, lobster, lilies, dark leather, yarn, pigeons, flannel, library roof, butterflies, curtains in Bluo, blue potatoes, mice, cranberries, owls, lavender plants, the outer walls of the church, red snapper, playing cards, the inner walls of the town hall, blood oranges, and granola
If there are any questions, please ask them here, so that we don’t miss any. Thank you, everyone!

SETTING CHANGES
Alarm bells
Location Change: Near the centre of each district, and near the well
Brief Description: Four bells have been set up, for use in an emergency to call everyone together. The largest bell, that used to be the church's bell, is set up in the centre of town near the well. Three smaller bells that used to be on boathouses are in the districts.
The bells are mounted high on wooden frames, that are set into the ground with concrete. They have a rope with which to ring the bell.
60ft Christmas Tree
Location Change: Close to the centre of town
Brief Description: a giant 60ft tall Christmas tree and a deep pit she dug to stick the trunk in to make it stand. Unless someone makes her clean it up she's probably just going to leave it there...oops.
More Bells
Location Change: Just. On the well.
Brief Description: Sinistra and Caramia took one of the boathouse bells to attach to the well using lots of rope, which is dangled down into the well-- in hopes new people that show up will be able to ring it when they arrive.
Ice House
Location Change: Near the well
Brief Description: A house has been completely covered in ice, essentially making it into a giant freezer.
Community Board
Location Change: Town Center, near the well
Brief Description: Damian built the community board a while back that will hopefully help incoming newbies find different things they need, but also allow communication between established residents.
no subject
Character Name: Akira Kurusu
Location Change: Cafe Morgana in Ruga
Brief Description: Akira (with help from Akechi) converted an old mercantile store into a small coffee house, which Akira runs mostly every day during daylight using coffee from Leblanc as well as some grown in the garden. Everyone's limited to a cup per day due to limited supplies.
no subject
Location Change: The onsen
Brief Description: Tristan just helped facilitate it, but Sierra took some of Nero's sculptures and artwork (many of them lewd, as is the Roman fashion) and decorated the onsen with them.

Asking because that'd be an easy way to identify the frog, if they leave their clothes behind... right?

If a character found someone who had turned into a frog, and then happened to just... forcibly push that frog against someone else's lips... Provided one of the characters involved was a red, would that count as a kiss? Or does it have to be an intentional kiss?

1) just to be clear, we decide how the wish messes up, right?
2) Is the limit for the one doing the godmothering or for both parties?

COLOR CHANGES
Blue characters have submitted 19 color log threads for the month of December, Yellow characters have submitted 10 and red characters have submitted 8 color log threads for the month of December. With all of that combined, the color of rainbows, such as appear after rainfall, have finally been restored to all of their proper glory.
QUEST 40
Requirements: 1 red.
Ah, a fairy tale classic, kissing frogs. The nice thing about this one is that when you decide to take on this quest? There's conveniently a frog somewhere in the Town for you to kiss!
The...unfortunate thing is that's because, once you decided to take on this quest, someone in the Town was turned into a frog.
It could be a friend, a loved one, or a total, absolute stranger -- it's pretty random, really. (Naturally, please feel free to plot out whatever shenanigans amongst yourselves you'd enjoy!)
But once they've been turned into a frog? The only way to turn them back is for the quest-taker-on to give them a smooch. They taste like frog.
Ways to succeed: Find the frog (that you caused to turn into a frog, not that you'd know that), and give them a smooch! Bring them back from froggy doom!
Ways to fail: If you choose not to smooch the frog, you are definitely leaving them to remain as a normal, unhappy frog for the next couple of days before it wears off. They will be themselves, and think and process like normal people, but will absolutely be stuck in the body of a frog. They can't talk, either, so they'll be stuck with froggy charades, you monster.
Limit: 3 per character

QUEST 41
Requirements: 2 of any color.
What does a fairy godmother do, anyway? Historically, they bring good fortune and good luck to the person under their care, though... well, the way they do so may be a bit avant-garde (such as changing mice into footmen).
This quest is not gendered, don't worry -- anyone can be a fairy godmother. Though to be a fairy godmother, you need two things: someone to protect, and magic. The quest will give you the latter, but you need to get the former yourself!
So to tackle this quest? Find someone who needs a wish granted (they may not actually need a wish granted, your character can absolutely make it up themselves), and use that magic to help them out! ... Unfortunately, the quest's magic is pretty wonky, so things might go awry.
Things to keep in mind:
1. Only small wishes can be granted with the magic you've been given (such as new clothing, a meal, some sort of weapon or item, etc)
2. They are very likely to go wrong (the clothes won't come off for a period of time, the weapon talks and is very annoying, the meal is delicious but so spicy it's practically inedible, etc)
3. Once the wish has been granted, there's no taking it back
So... good luck with that!
Ways to succeed: Grab someone off the street, do your best fairy godmother impression, make up a wish to grant for them, and... probably mess it up. It's fine! So long as a wish has been granted, you're golden for passing the quest.
Ways to fail: You can't grant a wish for yourself, mind you -- be generous here! Otherwise, it's pretty hard to fail this one.
Limit: 2 per character

QUEST 42
Requirements: 1 blue.
Demon hunting is a dangerous, dangerous task. It's been some time since people have encountered proper demons in the woods, but they've always been lurking, waiting.
They're still doing so here, if you go out into the woods to tackle this quest.
There are a couple of ways to conquer demons. An all out, straightforward brawl is one, of course (they are especially weak to light and holy magic), though be aware that they are underhanded and nasty to the extreme, with things such as poison claws or the ability to shapeshift into a loved one.
But you can also outsmart or trick a demon, and that could just as well for "defeating" it -- the classic of getting a demon to tell you its name, for instance, will render it totally powerless. Those are just a few methods; there's a wide, wide variety of demons out there, and they can be conquered in a number of ways. Feel free to be creative and have fun with it -- and remember that they'll prey on the first sign of weakness your character shows.
Ways to succeed: Go on out there and incapacitate a demon in some way. Whether that's outsmarting it and removing its power, defeating it in combat, knocking it out, or something else entirely is up to you -- all of those methods will count.
Ways to fail: Please note that if the demon defeats you? It's definitely, absolutely going to steal your soul. So. Maybe try to avoid that.
Limit: None

QUEST 43
Requirements: Any Colors.
Thanks to the magic of this quest? Suddenly, you're going to be able to do a power swap. Reach out and take someone's hand, and those abilities you're so used to? They're gone, swapped on over to that other person instead. And you'll be gaining theirs in return.
It only lasts a few days, thankfully... but while you may be getting their powers, you aren't getting their expertise. So be really careful; some of those abilities are really dangerous, aren't they? It'll be like you're starting from level 1, but with those really insane abilities grandfathered in.
Note: characters without powers might be able to finally let a character with powers experience what it's like to be totally normal, if they swap. Or two totally normal characters can technically swap and complete the quest, though that's pretty boring (loopholes!).
Ways to succeed: Two people decide to do the quest, swap powers, and don't kill anyone (note: not killing anyone is not a requirement to pass the quest). Once the powerswap is done, the quest can be considered completed.
Ways to fail: The only way to really fail this quest is to just not take it on, probably; characters without powers can participate in this one too!
Limit: Three per character
