Hello to all of our newcomers, and welcome to Awash! Thank you for your interest in the game, and we hope you have a good time here! This is just a quick mod post with two purposes: to help the new people get settled into the game, and to introduce tomorrow's mini-event!

Gameplay Mechanics
Event Log
Cracks of Paint
[ 11/8 - 11/12 ]
There are a two major points of note here re: the intro log -- what's happening with the newly arrived characters, and what's happening with the characters as a whole. So let's break it down!
Newly arrived characters will be arrived in the well, as always! They'll end up in the bottom of the well, absolutely frigid water coming up to about knee-deep. It's far larger on the inside than it would seem, but either way, the only way up is the top of the well, the opening there.
Which, is, well. Frozen over.
Yikes.
As of that day, it seems the well's opening will be continually freezing over, the sheet of ice slowly but surely growing thicker and thicker, completely sealing the well off from the outside world. And even more importantly, the ice cannot be broken from the inside or the outside of the well. Not even with magic, super strength, etc... You're stuck.
However, don't give up hope! A certain intrepid group of characters generously donated an amount of their own personal color to get you guys here, and that's going to be your saving grace.
So all new characters stuck in the well will have a burst of strength or magical energy, enough to crack open that ice, if they can get to the top of the well. Even the normals, without any power to speak of... well, suddenly they've got a punch that can break through solid magical ice. It'll still take some creativity to get out of there, probably, but at least it's possible, right? This extra strength can last anywhere from just that one moment to the entirety of this event's four days, before it fades away.
Everyone, for the remainder of the event will be finding that within their homes, there's suddenly an old, archaic mirror. It seems like a regular mirror? Everyone will have one, from the old to the new characters, and aside from being uncannily cold to the touch, it seems fine.
Except it follows you around. For the four days this event lasts, that mirror will follow you. You can leave it at home, and then turn around in someone else's home, and there it is, resting on a table, waiting for you. If you go tramping through the woods, there it'll be, leaning casually against a tree.
If you look into it, or someone else picks up your mirror, or looks into it over your shoulder with you, or even just catches a glimpse... what everyone involved will see is you, of course! But... the you that's the worst possible aspects of you. Those personality traits you try to keep hidden away from the world, emphasized ten times over. Those personality traits you'd be ashamed to have everyone known, overblown to a ridiculous extent --
That's what people will see in your mirror. And it's not just a visual, either. You can talk with that reflection, interact with them, reason with them (though they may not be all too open to reason).
Nothing's forcing you to pick up that mirror, of course. You can easily just leave it alone. Still... it's hard not to want to just take a peek, right...? There'll always be a lowkey urge to take one tiny look... and the more mirrors you look into, the more intensely you'll want to see what everyone's deeper, darker self looks like.
It's probably fine. The mirrors are their normal level of fragility, but if they are broken, it will have an impact on the second part of the event for your character, so please let us know here if your character breaks their mirror.
For newbies, please don't feel restrained to just the rescue for your intro log toplevels! You can assume that your character got out in some way or another in order to work in multiple prompts for the event if you would like to do so.
As ever, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here. Thank you, and welcome again to the game!
AC
- New characters must submit half-AC.
- Those requirements, as well as the AC post, can be found here.
- Please be sure to also read the general AC guidelines, here! It is very important that you do, as we will not be granting AC exemptions due to the capped nature of the game.
Gameplay Mechanics
- Character housing, now that the application round is over, can be found here! This is where characters can find their laptops, though they are by no means required to stay there; they can move at will, and their laptop will function in whatever new home they pick. The spreadsheet is editable, so please feel free to move your characters around!
- Quests can be done by incoming players at any point once they have been introed. Quests can ICly be found here. OOCly, further information can be found here! Please be aware that only quests of the current month can be completed for a reward. Past quests can be done if you would like to, but will receive no reward.
- A list of current restored colors can be found here; please be aware that no colors have been restored for new characters yet. That means that their text color will be black, and their homes, unless shared with a current character, will have no color.
- The OOC meet and greet can be found here.
- The Calendar has also been updated with the current weather! Please note that all of this upcoming snow will accumulate, upwards of about 3 feet by the end of the snowstorm.
Event Log
- A mingle log will go up tomorrow, November 8th at 9 PM EST, to provide a general introduction to the game. Due to the size of the app round, and requests from current players for more varied intro logs, we'll be trying something a bit different, but hopefully still not too overwhelming for the current round of newbies. So please be sure to read the following information carefully!
This will be a lowkey beginning, which will be connected to the event later this month, which will be a bit more intense.
