Mod Post. 3/7/19
Hello to all of our newcomers, and welcome to Awash! Thank you for your interest in the game, and we hope you have a good time here! This is just a quick mod post with two purposes: to help the new people get settled into the game, and to introduce tomorrow's mini-event!
AC
Gameplay Mechanics
Event Log
Blasting Hot Stove
[ 3/8 - 3/12 ]
There are a two major points of note here re: the intro log/event log -- what's happening with the newly arrived characters, and what's happening with the characters as a whole. So let's break it down!
Newly arrived characters will arrive in the well, as always! They'll end up in the bottom of the well, absolutely frigid water coming up to about knee-deep. It's far larger on the inside than it would seem, but either way, the only way up is the top of the well, the opening there. Thankfully, previous characters have long since installed ropes and ladders, and an alarm bell to ring -- it's a bit easier to get yourselves out of there than it used to be.
Thankfully, that part of things is easy. Once they get out of there, though, they'll realize things are a bit weird in this Town.
You see, scattered around Town there are a bunch of glimmering, sparkling scales. The scales come in all different colors, all rough and cold to the touch, and all utterly impossible to break down in any way. They're fireproof, magic-proof... and they have a very, very strong sense of magic coming off of them as well.
Most importantly? Each of these scales has a different effect, based off of color. And if you pick one up? You're going to be stuck with that effect for anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
After this log, new characters will be welcome to create logs and posts as you please! Please be sure to read over the FAQ once more before you begin playing.
As ever, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here. Thank you, and welcome again to the game!
AC
- New characters must submit half-AC.
- Those requirements, as well as the AC post, can be found here.
- Please be sure to also read the general AC guidelines, here! It is very important that you do, as we will not be granting AC exemptions due to the capped nature of the game.
Gameplay Mechanics
- Character housing, now that the application round is over, can be found here! This is where characters can find their laptops, though they are by no means required to stay there; they can move at will, and their laptop will function in whatever new home they pick. The spreadsheet is editable, so please feel free to move your characters around!
- Quests can be done by incoming players at any point once they have been introed. Quests can ICly be found here. OOCly, further information can be found here! Please be aware that only quests of the current month can be completed for a reward. Past quests can be done if you would like to, but will receive no reward.
- A list of current restored colors can be found here; please be aware that no colors have been restored for new characters yet. That means that their text color will be black, and their homes, unless shared with a current character, will have no color.
- The OOC meet and greet can be found here.
Event Log
- A mingle log will go up tomorrow, March 8th at 9 PM EST, to provide a general introduction to the game. Due to the sizes of the current app rounds in the game, the intro logs also serve as mini-events, with a bit more to play with.

- Blue scales: You will feel a very strong desire to destroy buildings. Just any building that ends up in your path. You just want to make it burn. Or collapse. Or anything along those lines really. The urge is incredibly strong, so maybe someone should hold you back. These scales can be found all over Town -- in your houses, in the street, at the edge of the woods -- and they're just incredibly tempting to pick up, glittering on the ground as they are.
- Red scales: Will make you breathe fire. Even if you cough or sneeze, fire's going to come out. It's apparently very hard to control. Even if you're just having a conversation, sometimes you might just breathe fire.
- Purple scales: Will poison you. That sucks. At least it can be cured via magic or other poison-curing options, until you touch it again.
- Yellow scales: Will make you want to hoard things. It can be anything -- maybe it's gold, maybe it's old shoes. Either way, you'll have an incredibly strong urge to hoard it all away from anyone who could touch it. If they try, you might bite.
- Orange scales: You can suddenly only speak in roars, hisses and growls. You'll have the words in your head, but only monstrous noises will come out. Or squeaky growls, maybe, because it hasn't really changed your vocal cords. No matter how hard you try, you'll be stuck with only those noises instead of proper speech.
- Green scales: You have a strong belief that suddenly, you can fly. It doesn't matter if you have absolutely no flight capabilities; you're sure you can fly if people just let you jump off of that roof. (Note: This does not actually grant the capability to fly.)

Do you turn into a poisoned dragon that can't fly?no subject
You unfortunately do not turn properly into a dragonthe effects of the scales do stack! They can stack in whatever way you'd like; for example, if you just want to have them be poisoned and also breathe fire, you can go as simply as that. If you'd like for it to be a bit more complicated (ie, breathing poison fire, or something along those lines from the stacked effects), you are more than welcome to be as creative as you'd like with it!no subject

OH and can scales be safely collected somehow, like by using gloves and a bag, or is there no way to avoid them affecting someone who picks them up?

The scales can be safely collected, but it's more how far away from the action of "picking up" your character takes to get them, if that makes sense. Lifting them with a glove will still cause the same effects to happen, because they're still picking up the scales. Scooping them up with a bag is definitely safer and will likely work if they can coordinate it somehow, knocking them off of a ledge or something and catching it in a bag is also safe -- things like that! The further away from the actual action of picking up the scale they are, the safer they'll be.

However, it's quite dark down there, so it's still totally plausible that some of the new arrivals managed to miss each other in the chaos and bustle of their arrival!
